Organization :
The Market regulation Scheme come
into force in the State under the Odisha State Agricultural Produce Market Act
1956. Objective of the Act to ensure fair price to the farmers for their
agricultural produce.
The Odisha State Agricultural
Marketing Board has been created as per Section -18(A) OAPM Amendment act, 1984.

Objectives of the Organization :
Superintendence and Control over the 66 Regulated Market Committees in Odisha,
to increase their efficiency and facilitate for creation of better marketing
infrastructure. And to run its own establishment asper Rules and Regulations.
There are the Following services we
took part in the public domain.

Improving farmers/ producers access and
linkage to the agricultural markets.

Integrated plan for agricultural marketing by
way of convergence approach with related departments and agencies for
development of agricultural marketing.

Preparation and implementation of district
agricultural marketing plan in collaboration with line departments and support
of district administration.

Functionalization of agricultural markets for
better utilization of available market infrastructures and marketing services.

Strengthening of existing markets.

Marketing extension services to ensure
buyer-seller linkages, innovative marketing practices and strengthening
agricultural supply chains in the State.

Use & application of information technology
for dissemination of marketing information to market players.

Agricultural market survey, feasibility study
of agricultural market, preparation of project reports and its implementation.

Promotion & publicity of agricultural
marketing activities.

Training & development of market
functionaries.

Mission/Vision :
Agricultural Marketing System of
Odisha focuses more on promotion of private investment, contract framing and
direct marketing with an accent on free play of market forces than on a strict
control regime of a Regulated Marketing Mechanism. There is no monopoly of
markets owned by agricultural produce market committees in the state. Besides
RMC markets, there is a network of Municipal / Panchayat / Private markets
operating in the state catering to the agricultural marketing needs. However,
the marketing apparatus of the state has got infrastructure, system and process
in place to implement good marketing practices for different commodities.
