Ramonda Serbica – Uncovering Details about the flower featured in “Ranveer Vs Wild With Bear Grylls”

Netflix’s Ranveer Vs Wild with Bear Grylls interactive special is penned by Shanthanu Srivastava and helmed by James Turner. The special features popular Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh who joins Bear Grylls as they embark on a wild adventure.

The official synopsis reads: “Roses won’t cut it for this hopelessly romantic Bollywood star. The flower he’s after is one of a kind — and he’s testing his survival skills to find it.”

The actor’s digital debut has an intense explicit premise.

First and foremost, the visuals are aesthetically pleasing. The special is filmed in the beautiful jungles of Serbia with breathtaking picturesque views, truly a remarkable visual.

What makes it more interesting is the undeniable chemistry between Ranveer and Bear who gives off the same energy and is a treat to our eyes. The team of two encounters many obstacles which in turn leads to comical excitement, and we can not forget the philosophical times.

We also witness the duo eating their meals on the most unusual things like Pigs’ testicles, insects, and maggots too. And explores the steep terrains and caves and many more.

The interactive facet of the special is a fine addition. With numerous options to make and the capacity to nullify decisions permits it to be an immersive understanding, creating an intense involvement.

What made Ranveer participate in the show?

The actor revealed that the main objective behind partaking in a journey into the wilderness of Serbia with British explorer and survival expert Bear Grylls is “to get in touch with my primal self”. We did notice that as the show proceeds it is by no means just about that. Of course, part of it was staged but it is Ranveer’s love for his wife Deepika Padukone, a famous Bollywood actress that made him take the challenge. But what prompted him to travel to Serbia and what is his true motive?

Well eventually, his main goal is to find the rare Ramonda Serbica flower that is only found on hilly landscapes in Serbia. The flower blooms for an entire year overcoming seasonal differences as well as unpredictable climate change.

Ranveer’s mission to procure the rare  Ramonda Serbica for his wife

In the show, we witnessed that the actor takes up a dangerous mission which is to successfully obtain the rare Ramonda Serbica also known as The Phoenix Plant for his wife as a symbol of his unwavering love for her and has requested survival expert Bear Grylls to assist him on the mission.

What makes Ramonda Serbica so special?

To put it simply, its ability to withstand the harshest unpredictable weather and revive itself on the brink of being withered if watered.

Bear Grylls drafts a journey that includes some of the most bizarre eating habits especially when it comes to the Indian audience as India is known to be a home of vegetarians. So yes, some of you will probably be sick in the stomach but then again this is what real survival in the wilderness looks like.

The duo engages themselves in eating the testicles of deceased pigs, walking through a path of snakes, a dark narrow cave, climbing on the edge of a cliff, sleeping in the wilderness, and so on. The show was dropped on July 8, 2022.

The special revolves around the duo withstanding the extremely difficult Serbia terrains and weather conditions while in search of the Ramonda Serbica flower, hoping that they don’t end up starving, wounded, or lost in the wildlife.

The contrary side of the show

Breaking down to the point of negativity, Ranveer Vs Wild with Bear Grylls does not really stick to its originality whatsoever. It’s pretty much evident it is scripted and staged. We can’t blame the fact that the duo had to shoot back and forth to make it work.

Needless to say, the duo did not make you feel both are ever in real danger or a life and death situation. At times making the viewers feel like there’s no realness but just scripted and well-executed beforehand, which did not sum up to what the show makers actually promised to showcase.

Nonetheless, the interactive special makes you feel less like an adventure in the wildlife but more or less felt more like an action-adventure film that agreed to take a diverse route. The special has a runtime of 70 minutes but nothing stood out as the narrative was somewhat lacking which made the show less interesting.

And how could we forget Ranveer’s endless chatter about how loves her wife (Deepika Padukone) which takes the realism of the show. But at the end of the day, viewers still thoroughly enjoy watching the actor experience something new and thrilling adventure which we rarely get to see this side of him in the film.
